Kai is an AI accountability and screen-time service operated by Aleksey Rusenov, an individual developer. For privacy questions, access, correction or deletion requests, email aleksey.dev.kai@gmail.com.
OpenAI writes Kai's replies and checks messages and draft replies for safety. Before sending personal data to OpenAI, the app explains the data and recipient and asks you to choose allow sharing with OpenAI or don't allow. If you text Kai directly, a scripted disclosure asks you to reply allow ai or no thanks. Starting a chat, paying, or granting Apple's Screen Time permission does not by itself authorize AI sharing.
With your permission, Kai sends OpenAI your messages and relevant conversation history; details you share such as your name, age, goals and preferences; and, once you connect Screen Time, your chosen app labels, usage-threshold minutes and timestamps, and relevant lock, plan and check-in context. This helps Kai compose replies about your own plans and usage. We do not include your account phone number as an identifier in AI prompts, but personal information you type into the conversation may be included.
You may decline. AI chat and mid-scroll messages will stay paused. You can still unlock apps, manage your subscription and delete your account. Withdraw in machinery โ ai privacy โ stop ai sharing, or text stop ai. Withdrawal stops new AI processing after it reaches our server; it cannot recall data already transmitted. An offline app explains that server confirmation is still needed. The phone learns about a choice made in Messages when it next connects. Withdrawal does not cancel your subscription or erase existing records.
We use this information to deliver the conversation, remember your plans, provide permitted check-ins, carry out requested locks, show your record, verify subscriptions, prevent abuse and diagnose failures. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. We do not use your conversations to train our own AI models. AI processing relies on your permission; account, purchase and security processing is needed to provide the service and meet applicable obligations.
Service providers processing data for Kai must protect it at least to the same standard described in this policy, use it only for the disclosed service and security purposes, restrict access, and support applicable deletion and data rights. We remain responsible for the providers we use. Providers may process data outside your country; applicable data-protection and transfer safeguards are required. Contact us about provider protection or a data-rights request.
Your account and conversation records are kept while your account exists so the conversation can continue. Cancelling a subscription does not delete your account. Ask for deletion whenever you no longer want us to keep it. Routine recovery backups rotate through up to 14 dated copies; deletion of the active account is not instant erasure of every backup or a provider's security log. Subscription transaction and security records may be retained where needed to verify purchases, prevent fraud or meet legal obligations.
After deletion, we retain a receipt containing the generated device identifier and deletion time so an offline phone can learn that its account was erased. It can confirm deletion for 90 days; expired receipts are removed when the next account-deletion cleanup runs. The receipt contains no phone number, messages or screen-time history.
Text Kai "delete everything" and confirm, or use delete everything in the app's machinery screen. This removes Kai's active conversation, goals, screen-time records, lock records, permission receipt and device connection. It does not delete the copy in your Messages app or automatically cancel your Apple subscription. Manage cancellation through your Apple Account subscriptions. The retention exceptions above still apply.
Email the address above to request access, correction, deletion, portability or restriction, or to object to processing. Where applicable, you can complain to your local data-protection authority. Aleksey Rusenov is the controller for Kai's processing.
Kai is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has supplied personal data, contact us so we can investigate and remove it. An App Store age rating does not override age-related privacy or purchase requirements.
